The Karantaka Christian Educational Society (KACES) is a educational organinsation registered as an educational society under the Karnataka Societies Registration ACT. It was founded in December1969. This society serves as an umbrella organization for the various education and vocational training institutions in which Karnataka Theological College is the nucleus. The Society is managed at present by the three dioceses of the Church of South India in Karnataka (CSI-Karnataka Northern Diocese, CSI-Karnataka Central Diocese and CSI-Karnataka Southern Diocese, United Basel Mission church in Mumbai and the Methodist Church-South India Regional Conference. There is however scope for the participation of other churches, missions and institutions which subscribe to the objects of the Society. In 1969 there was only two institution namely, the Karnataka Theological College and the Hebich Technical Training Institute under its management. At present there are seventeen institutions with several programmes.
Rev. Dr. C. D. Jathanna, was the founder of the society and under his secretary ship the society has made much headway. As the executive secretary from 1969 to 1983 he envisioned to make the society self-reliant and in this regard KACES purchased land from the Commonwealth Trust Ltd. Later with the help of friends from Germany KACES built the four commercial complex namely Nethravathi, Hemavathi, Kumudavathi and Sharavathi. He then became the Bishop of the CSI-Karnataka Central Diocese. Rev. Dr. C. L. Furt ado served the institution as its executive secretary from 1983-1992. He became the Bishop of CSI-Karnataka Southern Diocese. Rev. Dr. J. S. Sadananda took charge and served the institution for seventeen long years from 1992-2009 further strengthening the institution. During his time many new projects and programmes were introduced. He became the Bishop of CSI-Karnataka Southern Diocese from September 2009. At present Rev. Dr. Hannibal Cabral has taken charge as the executive secretary from October, 2009 and is continuing to make KACES a society to serve the churches and community at large.
